We enter the month of November this month and as we do I ask you to consider where you are in the scheme of your personal curriculum map? November is one of the shortest school months in the school year, so it’s important that we use each day to make the most of learning. Lets stress the kids that being in school is important and that we need to stay focused on the goals of the classroom.

This week brings:

October 30 – Team Leaders’ Meeting at 7:20 a.m. Faculty Meeting at 2:45 p.m. – Second part of the mandatory suicide training. Please be on time so we can finish before 4:00 p.m. We will meet in Diane’s room for this faculty meeting.

October 31 – Halloween Parade at 8:30 a.m. Students who need to change should be given no more than ten minutes to change. We will line up in front of the school, on the driveway at 8:30 a.m. with 6th graders by the art room entrance, 8th grade by the center doors, and 7th grade by the vocal music doors. We will walk around the front of the school two times, and students will return to class. At 9:50 a.m. the staff and students are asked to report to the gym for the marching band concert. Teachers who are on 7th grade team are asked to remain during team for the concert and to take his or her personal preparation the second half of second period. All other teachers are asked to report to the gym to help supervise the students.

November 1 – Photo retakes today. Judy will call students down by grade. This should be relatively short for the amount of students that will retake their photos. I am asking that two people from the Encore team share the supervision of the students during team. Mrs. Dyer will assist in the supervision.

November 2 – Congratulations to the district for being the only district in the state to be rewarded the Asthma Awards for Friendly Schools. Some of our nurses will be attending the acceptance breakfast. Kudos!

November 3 – The Professional Develop Committee will be meeting today at 12:00 noon to develop the 2007 – 2008 Professional Development Plan. See our representative, Bobbi Rountree if you would like to know more about the process or if you have ideas for the committee.

Congrats to the great DVD the 7th grade health classes made on hygiene, washing hands and tooth care. I hope the younger students at Briarwood and Brooklake enjoy it as much as I did. What a great job! Be proud Maribeth & Joe.
Have a great week.
